All our games at the Entertainment Convention meet the regulations for the protection of children and youth and are marked accordingly in cases of doubt. We guarantee that no one under the age of 18 receives access to X-rated games at the Entertainment Convention. The same applies for other age restrictions. What’s more, the BPjM (Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons) has been a guest at the venues of the Entertainment Convention for years – and will naturally be present at the ABF in Hanover.

For more information on "games and children or adolescents” and "media education and competence", please visit us!

The tasks of the BPjM are to index upon request or suggestion media harmful to young persons as well as to promote value-oriented media education and to raise public awareness for the concerns of the Media Protection for Young Persons (“media protection for young persons: media education”).

"Statutory media protection for young persons": Indexing of media harmful to young persons

Upon request by youth welfare offices and the commission for media protection for young persons, or upon suggestion by other authorities or recognised youth welfare organisations, the BPjM decides on  the threat of media to young persons (carrier media und telemedia) and enters these into the list of media harmful to young persons (indexing). They are as such subject to certain sales, distribution and advertisement restrictions and access to them may only be granted to adults.

Legal basis:

•    Law for the Protection of the Youth (“JuSchG”)

•    Regulation for the Execution of the Law for the Protection of the Youth (“DVO JuSchG”)

•    State Treaty on Media Protection for Young Persons (“JMStV”)
